Vespa Engine Noise
50cc Vespa?? ?

hey can you people tell me why do vespas make that noise when the engine is running it is like a bogging noise it sounds fantastic but can you tell me why ... thanks+

Old Vespas are equipped with fan-cooled 2-stroke singles.

At idle 2-stroke singles tend to only fire every couple of strokes (known as four-stroking). You hear an occasional pop-pop when it fires after having misfired on the previous stroke.

Once underway, you also hear the crank-driven fan.

Additionally, in a Vespa the engine is lurking under a full enclosure so apart from the exhaust, every other engine sound is partially muffled and modified by the engine cover. This helps give these scooters their peculiar sound signature.

Roadway Noise

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Roadway noise is the collective sound energy emanating from motor vehicles. In the USA it contributes more to environmental noise exposure than any other noise source, and is constituted chiefly of engine, tire, aerodynamic and braking elements. In other Western countries as well as Lesser developed countries, roadway noise is expected to contribute a proportionately large share of the total societal noise pollution. Roadway noise began to be measured in a widespread manner in the 1960s, when computer modeling of this phenomenon was perfected. After passage of the National Environmental Policy Act and Noise Control Act, the demand for detailed analysis soared, and decision makers began to look to acoustical scientists for answers regarding the planning of new roadways and the design of noise mitigation. Vespa - help needed to identify noise?

Vespa help needed

Just reassembled engine after replacing cruciform and kickstart cog.
Now when engine is turned by hand there is a clicking sound (just once per revolution). Is this right?

Not sure whether more information is needed but I'm sure someone will let me know!
Thanks

it sounds like part of the kicker. Is there enough lubrication on it?
