Vespa Touring Scooters
Are there Tours on the Greek Island or Mainland Tours by scooters?
That is something have been wanting to do, and that is tour around and see the sights from a Vespa scooter 
You can hire scooters everywhere, but it is unlikely to be a Vespa as they are too expensive.
Scooters are designed for local travel only, on the smaller islands this is fine as you will never be far from 'home'. Youl will rarely see a scooter on any of the main highways for this reason!
On Crete the rental office will usually draw a circle on the map and tell you not to go outside this area. It's a long walk back to the resort if you run out of fuel and also the small engines on a scooter are not up to the mountain roads.
Proper motor bikes are available, and these are much more suitable for longer distances but in most cases do not have suitable panniers for carrying your luggage.
If you really want to do any serious touring then a car is best, but even then ask the hire company if it is ok to take it from the immediate area if you are on the mainland or Crete.
Bicycles are an option but Greece and its islands are not flat so be prepared for some heavy hill work!
Whatever form of transport you decide on, drive carefully until you are used to the local driving conditions and remember that helmets are a legal requirement on scooters! The fine is heavy for both you and the passenger if you are stopped for not wearing one, and as you are not Greek you will not be able to argue with the policeman that stops you!
