help, i want to add a battery to my none battery t5 classic and also be able to hold its charge.?

vespa t5 classic how to add a battery and hold its charge, would anyone have a diagram on doing this. there is a yellow and grey wire going to the regulator and a black earth wire to frame i just want to add a battery for auxilary purposes. Thank's mark

Mark,,You want to add a 2nd battery,in addition to existing one?

Simplest thing to use is a "Battery Isolator".
They're cheap and easy to hook up.

Here's one from JC Whitney..$24 + shipping

http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/Product/Pr-p_Product.CATENTRY_ID:2006117/c-10101/Nty-1/p-2006117/Ntx-mode+matchallpartial/N-10101/tf-Browse/s-10101/Ntk-AllTextSearchGroup?Ntt=battery+isolator

You can probably find them on Ebay a little cheaper.

Or,,Locally--most Boating/Marine places or RV/Camper places have them.
Lots of those things use Multi Batteries.
But those places are usually high priced

.....................................................
One thing to keep in mind.

The alternator output on your bike is small.
They have very little excess/reserve charging capacity.
That's typical of many bikes, nothing unusual there.

On Short Trips,,where run time is short,,,there's not enough Time to charge a battery throroughly.

Ok,,, Dual Batteries connected with an Isolator has 2 "Downsides"/negative effects on Charging.

#1,,the Isolator itself Reduces the Charging output a little bit.

#2,,The Charging output gets SHARED,,,split between the 2 Batteries.

On a Motor Home with a pair of Big Batteries,,Hi-Output Alternator,,,and running down the hiway for several hours at a stretch---NO Problem.

On a bike,,,where all the factors are Marginal---Output,Run-Time,Batt Capacity,,,,,,,,,
That all totals up to being similar to a Very Slow Drain,,,,because of insufficient charging TIME.

NOT an Actual Drain,,,but an Insufficient Recharge

We're talking over the course of several Days at least,,,probably a few Weeks actually.

It's NOT a terrible bleed down,,but a DEFICIT will likely exist.

The Solution is Simple,
Put a small Trickle Charger on the batteries Frequently.
Maybe 1~2 times a week,,,overnite.
Tuff to guess what ChargingSchedule may be needed,,,it depends on how Ya Use your bike.

Once a Month Charging may be good enough?

It may even Seem to be fine Without Charging the batts at all.
But I gaurantee You,,they'll Last a Lot Longer if you keep them fully charged at least Monthly.

It can be the difference of Batterys lasting 12 months versus 2~3 Years or More.

Just something to be aware of

Good Luck w/ your project

VESPA 50 The Small-Frame

Shop online for Used Motorcycle

Being a female, I was brought under strict family rules. Where I was in school, my parents incorporated a great deal of discipline in me and my brother. We had strict guidelines, had to get up at 5 every morning, no matter if it was cold dead outside. Back then, I hated that kind of life but now when I realise the amount of work my parents did with us, I feel indebted forever. Without their supervision, I would have been like most of my classmates who give up their fight even before they start and are too fragile emotionally to start a new routine and a life now.

Childhood is a lovely age, when we are driven by passion. We don’t even realise how our hobbies become zeal to pursue them till the last breadth. My dream was to acquire a bike, whether new or old. I developed this liking when I was 12. It was great fun walking around the motorcycle lot on a Sunday afternoon and looking at the motorcycles. As usual, people’s comments were a great dampener when they used to tell me that girls don’t ride a bike. However, I was in such a frame of mind where nothing could stop this love of mine and when I began working in a bank in London, I thought of buying a bike for myself. So I started looking for Internet motorcycle for sale auctions and quickly discovered that there were quite a few reasons to like these online motorcycle auctions.

The first major advantage that internet buying has over traditional buying is the amount of time that you can control while having a look at it. Experience says that whenever we shop for something, we like to look for the best possible item under our budget. This means flocking one shop to another looking for that perfect piece. This often results in time wastage and unnecessary tiredness. And when you can have the same experience from your desk, why waste time. There are thousands of chances to buy used motorcycles online. If interested, you can also see new bikes for consideration.

Another feature of online motorbike auctions is the final price of your motorcycle. You can find really great bargains if you look for them. You may want to look specifically at glm sales as an option as they stock some of the most incredible pieces in London.

One Response to “Vespa Frame”

  1. grunge_ryder Says:

It is named the Vespa 150 TAP (Troupes Aéro Portées) and it’s an Italian Vespa scooter modified by creating a hole in the legshield to carry a M20 75 mm recoilless rifle. The recoil or ‘kick’ from the rifle was counter balanced by venting propellant gases out the rear of the weapon; this eliminated the need for heavy mounts, and enabled the weapon to be fired from the Vespa frame. Due to the lack of any kind of aiming devices, the recoilless rifle was supposed to be mounted on a tripod, which was also carried by the scooter. Primarily built for the Algerian War in the 1950s, five parachutes could carry a two-man gun crew, weapon, ammunition, and two scooters. Then the men would load the weapon on one scooter and the ammo on the other, before riding away to find their enemy. Although rumour has it that the drivers were seen more often pushing it rather than riding on it.
