Piaggio Vespa Scooters Are there better and worse scooter companies?
My guess to this is yes. and if so, what are they?
i know kymco, vespa, piaggio are good. or at least that's what i was told.
but they are all a bit pricey and im a broke college student that needs cheap transport while still paying my apt lease and classes.
if i get something cheaper like a BMS or lance is that a bad idea?
and also are there certain ones to completely avoid?
Generally companies based in Europe, US, Canada, and Western Europe are good (of course there are a few crappy companies there too, but *generally* they're good). Chinese and East European companies are generally bad. You could get a cheap chinese scooter, but its a crap shoot- it might work well, or it might fall apart. Also, its harder to find spare parts for cheap scooters, so if it breaks its probably done for.
Good companies (from Eu, US Can, etc. and companies like Honda, Yamaha, Vespa, Piaggio, etc.) usually run more reliably (they break down less), its easier to get spare parts or even upgrades, and its easier to find someone that knows how to fix one. I'm in school too, and I'm about to get my first scooter (a Yamaha Vino). Just stick to a company you've heard of, buy used, and get a mechanic to look it over for you to be sure its not messed up.
