Questions about the Piaggio mp3 500 Scooter?
Hi,
I visited a Piaggio scooter dealer and have become fascinated with their MP3 500. I have several questions for owners out there. Please feel free to answer any or all. Thanks!
* Supposedly, it can hit around 90 mile per hour. Is it truly realistic to ride this thing on an interstate highway?
* Also, after adding luggage, is it realistic to take this scooter on a very long tour? Say a 1,000 miles or much more? Has anyone done this?
* Can the seat be adjusted forward/backward and up/down?
* The two front tires seem quite thin or small for truly high-speed riding. Any thoughts on this?
* Finally, I would love to hear any other facts about the scooter that you would care to share, positive or negative.

I work with a guy that has the MP3 250:

and i've ridden it a couple of times and it is like nothing else on the road. He has had his up to 77mph and has ridden it on the interstate VERY comfortably. He has also put several thousand trouble free miles on it within the short year he has owned it. The seat can't be adjusted, but there are many places out there that can form a new seat with foam and re-wrap it to fit you better. The two wheels up front are plenty big and they grip better than any single front wheel. You can easy ride over railroad tracks going in the SAME DIRECTION as the track!
Other tidbits: The key has a remote and is laser cut. The remote controls the trunk and I think an alarm. You can set your instrument cluster to display in english or metric. The wheels pivoting will automatically lock for you if you are going under say 5mph (unless you dont want them too) so that way when you come up to a red light or are on an angled surface, you NEVER have to put your feet down. It trips people out when you do it at a light lol. Anyway, you should join http://www.scootforum.com and let us know when you get it. I'm sure that guy would love to tell you more about his scooter.
