Classic Vespa Scooters Lambretta
Vespa or Lambretta....?
Which one of the two classic scooters would you prefer?
I wanted a Vespa, back in the day, but I got a used Lambretta because it was a better deal. It has a few issues but once they were squared away it was a nice little bike. Scooters in those days were not as smooth and refined as they looked, they were rough and loud and vibrated a lot.
The Lambretta was my first bike. It was a 200, which made it the only model of scooter in California that was freeway-legal, but every time I went on the freeway I got pulled over by the cops. I'd show them a certificate I had from the Highway Patrol and they'd apologize and let me go.
I bought it just to go to school and back but I enjoyed riding it so much I ended up going on 100-mile rides in the country on weekends. Eventually I traded up for a bigger motorcycle so I could do longer distances more comfortably.
The Vespa is more of the 'classic' motorscooter. They are very popular still today because of their style. The Lambretta was better in a few ways--bigger motor, better balance (the engine was in the middle of the frame rather than on one side like in the Vespa). But they both embody that classic scooter style, and I think I'd enjoy either one equally as much. Except that little bit of extra power in the Lambretta came in very handy.

i wanted a retro/classic kind of scooter, i like lambrettas & vespas, but theyre kinda expensive!!
what do you think of this? is it worth buying for a first scooter? or shall i wait and save up for a vespa or a lambretta?
