hi' i heard all different things like you need a car licence, then some say no i need a motorcycle licence, i am thinking maybe buying a harley trike but would like to know wat licence i need 4 it if i need a motor bike licence ummm well im over thirty so just means might have to keep in garage 4 a while heehehe

Breaking in new motorcycle motor
enging blew up in SD left the bike there to have the motor remanufactured, concerned about picking it up and riding it home 800 miles. Will it be okay to ride that many miles.

I kinda agree with the other answers… but not really.
IMO Richard has the best answer.
S&S cycle has their break-in procedure online... It's a pretty standard break-in procedure - it's probably what the guyz at the shop are gonna suggest, and I'd follow it. (That first oil change is pretty important - especially if it's under warranty.)

If the bike IS in Sturgis ya might wanna wait til people clear out so you don't get stuck in stop and go traffic in the heat with a new engine - especially if it's an air-cooled engine.
Take a ride up to Deadwood and then back through Spearfish Canyon. Get that first 50 miles in - then take the bike back to the shop that did the engine and get that first oil change. Have them look it over and check it for leaks, loose motor mount bolts, etc.
Then do what the other guyz said; vary the speed and take it reasonably easy for the next 500 miles.
I'm just thinkin that if ya do it that way you'll be close to the shop that did the work so they can take care of any problems that may happen during the shake-down ride, you can follow a standard break-in procedure, and you won't void the warranty.
You don’t wanna get the bike 800 miles away from the shop that worked on it then have to deal with it do ya?
Don't use synthetic oil until you have 1000 miles on the new engine.
